Calico Bass trip to San Martin with outdoor writer/ pro bass fisherman Erik Landesfeind and freinds. We fished 2 days, on day one we fished San Martin for big Calicos to 9 lbs! (all fish were tanked for photos and released later). On day 2 we fished for rockfish, sandbass and big red rockcod all using swimbaits in 70-90ft. We had a couple boats out this week and did well on bottomfish, rockcod, bass. Water is up to 60 out front but not quite that clean but for sure its looking very good for some early season croaker/yellowtail. Bait was good in bay today, Mr and Mrs Yu fished aboard the Offshore III today, they used live mackerel and cut squid for Lingcod, rockcod, copper rockfish and assorted other bottomfish. There have been some large halibut caught in bay lately and some small wsb as well!
Capt. George was out today and said conditions were exellent with flat seas and no wind . Theres coastal marine layer just offshore and inshore waters were in mid to high 50s with good color. I,ll be out with a group from SD tomorrow aboard the "Offshore III" (big Parker).....we,ll be looking for yellowtail and halibut so i,ll keep you posted ....just got a new camera too so i,ll have better pics.
