K&M welcomes the Los Angeles Rod & Reel Club to San Quintin Baja and club members Cathy Lee Needleman, John Ballotti and Joel Steinman got to see firsthand just what San Quintin has to offer Offshore and Inshore as the 3 fished hard for 3 days of Tuna-Yellowtail and Calico Bass! There were some great moments with personal best catches of Calico, with Bass weighing in from 6 to 9.2 lbs!!! We had Wide Open yellowtail at the 6 fathom on a flat beautifull day, we caught yellowfin on live bait at the 240 while fishing yellowtail.

Above: Martin Amezquite holds up the winning bluefin caught aboard K&Ms 25 Parker with Capt. Kelly Catian while fishing the annual Govorners Cup tournament this past Laborday weekend. Fishing has been exellent so far this Sept with Bluefin tuna, Yellowfin tuna, Dorado, Yellowtail, Whiteseabass all on the menu! Water temps have been in the 70s and the fish are very close in with some 30-40 lbs bluefin just outside the 240 and 6 fathom. Inshore there are lots of Yellowtail on the reefs and of course Whiteseabass along the coast. On Saturday we had 2 Bluefin, 4 Yellowfin and 2 Yellowtail before running for the scales for the weigh-in. We decided to take it easy and fish inshore on Sunday and got Whiteseabass,Calicos,Sandbass and Rockfish. |
