Water is 68-70 and blue! Theres big homegaurd yellowtail on the offshore reefs like the 240 and 6 Fathom. Just a few miles further out are the yellowfin tuna and dorado. Today i had buddies Charlie Burris and Paul Spann, we ended the day with 7 tuna and 8 yellowtail....we released a few small yellows as well. Large Yellowtail have been wide open for K&M anglers this week out at the 240. "I was out yesterday with Jeff Sterr of JMJ wetsuits and we ended the day with 11 yellowtail from 23 to 30plus lbs !" Fish were caught using live bait while drifting or slowtrolling baits near reef. Theres been some Dorado as well in the same area and just a few miles further out are the tuna (yellowfin). There were some caught as close as 10 miles from bathe bay. Water has been 68-70 and cleaan. Bait is plentifull in the bay with large greenback mackerel and sardin July 27 28 29 On 27 we had both Parkers out,Myself on the 25 Pilothouse and Bird on the 23 Cuddy weather was rough but we were greeted by birds working the area! On our first drift both John Cote and Mike Tweed got picked up by big yellowtail and as the 2 fought to keep their fish off the shallow reef we drifted right over the rock but managed to boat both slugs! Next drift Mike hooked into a 41 lbs Yellowtail that fought hard and dogged down deep keeping Mike pinned to the rail the whole time, he worked the huge slug short pumping it and hammering down the drag keeping the big fish from breaking off on the rocky reef below, Mike brought the fish to gaff and scored a personal best! Congrats Mike! My boy Cote was not far behind with 3 solid slugs landed to Mikes 1. We lost a couple as well and then went off to fill the bag with some Ling Capts. Duane Mellor & Jaime Thinnes of Seasons Sportfishing teamed up with Capt. Kelly Catian of K&M Sportfishing for some Yellowtail and White Seabass. The yellows were taken slow trolling live macks at the 6 Fathom spot. We also fished Calico Bass at Isla San Martin and large Lingcod at Bens Rock. We made bait (sardines and macks) in the bay as well as at the island. Fishing is very good and WSB are just getting started!!!! Yellowtail & Lingcod on live bait, Charlie Burris and kids fished aboard the "Offshore IV" with Capt. Kelly over the weekend.
