Weekly Update.   the skinny
we had some wind since last Monday
and it slowed things down on wed-thurs but the wind slowed, temps rose
and the water cleaned up.
Wsb are chewing again, theres Yellowtail everywhere and there's been  yf tuna just 10-15 miles offshore.....mostly on porpoise.
water in bay is 70+.  coastal 63-65
high-spots 66-68.   offshore 68-71
models show some wind all week.

We are very happy to announce that we have new Power for our Big Parker!
a New 2015 Suzuki DF250 APX .

Tuna have been wide open!!! and close in as well, just 5 miles past the high-spots and island.   Exellent inshore fishing for large yellowtail and whiteseabass.  The water is very warm and clean......book now for summer!!!

LA  anglers Gary Galvez,Pete Casey and Aaron Ness had great fishing for a wide variety of fish over the last couple days.
Day 1 aboard K&Ms 2310 Parker parker with Capt. George Catian the guys caught big red rockcod,lingcod,halibut and bass out at San Martin Island after making live bait.
Day 2  The guys went for yellowtail and got into a strong surface bite getting limits. Fish were taken on "Iron", water was 66.              JUST IN :   I just got off the VHF with Capt George this morning and he reported having White Seabass on board at 7:00am and that there were thick barracuda and squid.    Dont miss this El Nino season!     

 Walter Corbler and freinds of Costa Mesa Ca.  fished aboard K&Ms 25 Parker with Capt. Kelly on friday.  We had flat glassy seas so we decided to check out the high-spots before heading to isla San Martin to make bait.  As we came near the reef we could see clouds of birds working and we knew there were fish here. We saw big schools of yellowtail on the surface as we slid to a stop. We all had iron/jigs and it was Walter who hooked up first, then myself.  After chasing yellows we headed to San Martin to find some bait for halibut and lingcod, once armed with live bait we headed to Bens rock for Lings anf rockfish.
The weather changed the next day and after rounding the point we got blasted by 25 knot gusts, some rain and a growing south swell....we headed for the barn.

April has been great this year with some really fun shallow water coastal fishing just outside the bay.  Theres been halibut,lots of red rockcod and lingcod as well as calico bass out at the island.
Good freind and fellow fishermen Noel Huelsenbeck was down twice this month and we fished calicos out at San Martin on the south side and had a great surface bite up tight in the kelp, fish were 5-8 lbs and taking the 6 inch weedless baits with fury!.......very fun.
On Noels last trip (Easter week) we camped out at the "Punta" surfed and fished each day. We had a small skiff and caught our food each day.
We had Oysters from the bay,crabclaws from local fisherman and fish just caught right in fron of our campsite.  Capt George (K&M skipper) ran the skiff and foud some great bass and rockfish.   On Easter Sunday we fished on the Parker and ran out to the Island where we fished just outside the edge of the kelp and had huge whitefish, sheephead,calico bass. and various other rockfish.   Weather has been really good for April this year so far with much less wind and warmer water temps.   Yellowtail are year round in San Quintin and this time of year although the bite slowed since march.    Water temps have been in the low 60s around the highspots like Bens Rock-the 340-6 Fathom and Isla san Martin and cooler 57-58 water hanging close to the bay.   This is a great time of the year for family fishing as the bigger bottomfish are in close and you dont need to fish 200ft deep, plus you can use lighter tackle.        We have 1/2 day  Full day  and Offshore trips to meet everyones budget

 So far its been an epic March with water in the low 60s lots of yellowtail up top on the highspots and as always exellent bottom fishing.  Halibut and White Seabass just started as well so its looking like El Nino
might be upon us for real this time.

Lots of Yellowtail for K&M anglers in Jan and Feb so far so its looking like a great year already!  This bite has been going since Jan and even on the choppier windier days we,re still getting em to bite the iron!
15 Fathom and the 240 have been the hotspots so far and the fish have been biting all kinds od jigs from the newer knife/butterfly type jigs to the oldschool tady 9 and salas 6x jr,  blu/white or scrambled egg works well as do mint and the birdshit colors.    Along with Yellowtail we,ve had exellent red rockcod fishing and even some bass . March and April should be great for Yellowtail and maybe even some early White Seabass, we also start to run out to San Martin for Calico Bass  so call now and book a trip.
